Genus Scyllarides

Gill, 1898

Carapace without postorbital spine; rather highly vaulted, with a small cervical incision. Apart from a median ridge, the abdomen shows no dorsal sculpturation. First abdominal somite smooth, without a transverse groove dorsally; a pattern of coloured spots present there.

Type Species: by original designation: Scyllarus aequinoctialis Lund, 1793.

At present 13 species of the genus Scyllarides are known. All are treated in the present catalogue. They attain a large size and are edible.
